Topwise T1 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Z505-UTL)
This 3.8V, 3800mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the Z505-UTL cell inside the Topwise T1 portable payment terminal. It fits merchants running the T1 for card transactions who need to restore a unit that no longer holds charge. Voltage and capacity match the original factory specification exactly.
- Topwise T1 fit: The T1 runs a single-cell Li-Polymer pack at 3.8V nominal. The connector pinout and BMS communication protocol are specific to this terminal — swapping to a different voltage or capacity breaks the charge IC handshake and causes false low-battery alerts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the T1's charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake on first boot. The charge IC entered constant-current phase normally and transitioned to top-off without fault flags.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
The T1 pulls a combined current spike when the receipt printer fires alongside active wireless and display — this draw can briefly exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a new cell that hasn't completed its first charge cycle. The BMS interprets the spike as a fault and cuts output, which the terminal reads as a power loss and triggers a reboot. Running one full charge cycle before live deployment lets the BMS log the terminal's peak draw profile and adjust its trip threshold accordingly. If reboots continue after that, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection increases internal resistance and amplifies voltage sag under load.
T1 not powering on after sitting unused in a drawer
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per month. A T1 left unused for six months or more can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — at which point the BMS locks out discharge to protect the cell from permanent damage. Plugging straight into the charger may show no response because the charge IC won't engage a cell it reads as critically low. Connect the terminal to its original charger and leave it untouched for 30–45 minutes; most charge ICs include a trickle pre-charge mode that slowly brings the cell back above 3.0V before switching to normal CC/CV charging.
