The Kirabook BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers on the battery's BMS. When a new cell arrives, those registers reflect factory defaults, not a learned discharge profile — so the BIOS flags it as degraded even though the cell is new. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete uninterrupted charge lets the BIOS write a fresh baseline to those registers. After one to two cycles, the health indicator normalises. No firmware update or BIOS setting change is needed.
Kirabook shutting down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC maps a stale discharge profile onto the new chemistry, so it misjudges the remaining capacity and the system shuts down before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fix is deliberate calibration: let the laptop discharge fully to automatic hibernate, then charge to 100% without interruption — repeat this two to three times. After calibration cycles, the fuel gauge tracks accurately and the early shutdown stops.
