Toshiba Portege G710 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTE5700)
This is a 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery for the Toshiba Portege G710 pocket PC. It replaces OEM part number BTE5700 and fits the G710 directly. The G710 is a mid-2000s handheld PDA used for scheduling, contact management, and document viewing on the go.
- Portege G710 platform fit: The G710 uses a fixed 3.7V single-cell Li-ion supply rail. The BTE5700 form factor and connector match this rail directly, and the onboard BMS communicates charge state to the device firmware without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the G710 platform. The BMS triggered protection cutoff correctly at low voltage and accepted a full charge cycle without thermal events or firmware charge errors.
- RAM preservation before removal: Perform a full data sync to your host computer before pulling the battery. The G710 stores open application state and unsaved data in SRAM powered directly by the main battery cell — cutting power without syncing will wipe that data entirely.
Why the Portege G710 won't boot after a battery swap
The G710 boot sequence requires a minimum voltage threshold before the processor initialises. A new replacement cell ships in a partially discharged state — sometimes below that threshold. If the device shows nothing on power-up after a swap, connect it to the OEM charger and allow at least 15–20 minutes of charge before attempting to boot. Do not interpret a blank screen at first power-on as a faulty battery.
Wireless sync dropping or failing after a new battery install
The G710's radio stack is voltage-sensitive. When cell voltage sits below roughly 3.6V, the wireless radio may fail to maintain a stable connection or refuse to initialise entirely. This appears as a sync timeout or a missing network in ActiveSync. Charge the device to full before attempting wireless pairing or data transfer. A full charge cycle resolves this in most cases without any driver or firmware change.
