BIOS reporting battery health as poor after fitting the R150 replacement
The R150 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers carried over from the old cell. A fresh cell has different charge-cycle counts and capacity history stored, so the BIOS flags it as degraded on first read. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the new battery. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a complete charge allows the BIOS to rewrite its battery learn table against the new cell. After that cycle, the health indicator returns to normal.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge is estimating state-of-charge based on the old cell's profile, so it misjudges the remaining capacity. Under full CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge expects, triggering an emergency shutdown. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full recharge cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the cutoff point stabilises above 10V under load.
