Toshiba VC-CLS2 / VC-CLS11 / VC-CLS1 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BM-320AC-J2)
This is a 10.8V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Toshiba VC-CLS2, VC-CLS11, and VC-CLS1 cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part numbers BM-320AC-J2 and BM-320AJ-J2. The pack slots directly into the existing battery housing with no modification required.
- VC-CLS series compatibility: The VC-CLS2, VC-CLS11, and VC-CLS1 all run the same 10.8V platform with an identical connector and BMS handshake. All three models draw from the same cell configuration, so one replacement covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on VC-CLS series hardware. The BMS responded correctly to charger handshake, held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold, and did not trigger false overcurrent trips under normal floor and carpet suction loads.
- Dock charging habit on stick vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Toshiba VC-CLS vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than those charged only when the battery is depleted. Charge to full and remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is one of the most misread symptoms on cordless stick vacuums. The battery indicator shows mid-charge, but suction falls noticeably — most owners assume the battery is faulty. The actual cause is usually voltage sag under load: a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw harder, pulling cell voltage below what the motor needs to spin at full speed. Clean the filter first and retest — if suction recovers, the battery was fine.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then restarting after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, stuck debris in the brush head, or a sealed floor vent — the motor draws sustained current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. Clear the blockage and check the filter. If the cutouts stop, the battery and BMS are working exactly as they should.
