- 1064000-J and 1064000D collar fit: Both models run on the same 12V rail with the DC-12 form factor and identical contact placement. The BMS handshake expects Ni-MH chemistry — substituting Li-ion here will cause erratic charge termination or no charge detection at the collar's onboard circuit.

Why the 1064000-J collar delivers weaker stimulation output after a battery swap
The stimulation circuit in these Tri-Tronics collars draws a sharp current pulse to drive the output stage. If a Ni-MH cell sits in storage, its internal resistance climbs — even at a full state of charge, it can't sustain that pulse without voltage sag. The collar interprets this as a low-battery condition and clips output. Two to three full charge-discharge cycles bring internal resistance back down to spec and restore full stimulation intensity.
Collar not holding charge after replacement — charge LED drops off too early
Delta-peak charging in these collars detects full charge by watching for a voltage drop at the peak — typically a 10–15mV negative delta per cell. A new or storage-rested Ni-MH cell can have an uneven voltage curve that triggers false termination before the cell is actually full. If the collar's LED cuts off within 20–30 minutes of a fresh install, the cell hasn't been primed yet. Let the collar sit on the charger through one more full cycle, or start with a 16V bench charge at 70mA for two hours to prime the cell before using the collar's own charger.
