- Emma Pet and Lucy compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 14.4V nominal voltage rail, and BMS handshake logic — that is why a single cell covers both platforms. The connector pinout and thermal sensor wiring are identical across the two.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Emma Pet platform under load and confirmed the BMS negotiated correctly on first insertion. The overcurrent cutoff tripped at expected thresholds during restricted-airflow simulation, then reset cleanly once the blockage was cleared.
- Dock charging behaviour on robot vacuums: Do not leave the Emma Pet or Lucy sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. Robot vacuums on permanent dock contact receive a sustained trickle charge that accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next cleaning cycle.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on Emma Pet
This happens when the motor is working harder than the battery expects — usually because a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current. The BMS reads the elevated draw as a low-state-of-charge condition and begins stepping down power delivery before the indicator reflects it. Clean or replace the HEPA filter first. If suction recovers immediately, the battery was fine — the filter was starving the motor.
Motor cuts out mid-cycle then restarts on its own
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum encounters sustained airflow restriction — packed pet hair in the brush roll, a clogged filter, or a sealed floor surface — current draw spikes and the BMS shuts the motor output to protect the cell. The pack resets once current normalises, which is why the vacuum restarts after a few seconds. Clear the brush roll and filter, then resume. If the trip repeats on a clean machine, verify the replacement cell voltage sits at or above 14.0V before reinstalling.
