Trimble FM1000 / FmX / AgGPS — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (67898)
This is a 6V, 12000mAh Li-MnO2 battery for the Trimble FM1000, FmX, and AgGPS field devices. It replaces OEM part numbers 67898, 67898-01S, and ZTN67898-01S. These are GPS-based data collectors used in surveying and precision agriculture, where battery failure mid-session means lost positional data and wasted field time.

The device maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even when the pack is fully charged.
BMS cutoff when the FM1000 powers up a GPS module or antenna
When the FM1000 initialises its GPS module or an attached antenna, it draws a short inrush current spike that exceeds steady-state operating draw by a significant margin. If the battery's BMS has a low trip threshold — common in aged or deeply discharged cells — that spike triggers a protective cutoff before the device fully boots. This pack's BMS is rated to handle the initialisation surge without tripping. If cutoffs still occur on a fresh pack, check that the battery contacts on the device bay are clean and making full surface contact — any resistance at the contact points amplifies the apparent voltage drop the BMS sees.
FM1000 won't recognise a new pack after the unit sat unused for months
Li-MnO2 cells self-discharge slowly during storage, but if a pack drops below approximately 5.4V — the BMS recovery threshold — the protection circuit locks out and the FM1000 reads no battery present. This is a BMS sleep state, not cell damage. Connect the pack to a compatible charger that supports a low-voltage pre-charge or recovery mode; a standard fast charger will simply refuse to engage. Once the charger pushes the pack above the recovery threshold, the BMS re-initialises and normal charging resumes. After recovery, run a full charge to 6V nominal before powering on the device.
