Typhoon MyGuide m imove 3218 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (50000214)
This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-polymer cell for the Typhoon MyGuide m imove 3218 and MyGuide PND 3218 GPS navigators. It replaces OEM part 50000214 and fits the same footprint at 50.59 × 33.86 × 6.10mm. Swap this in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or shuts the unit down unexpectedly.
- MyGuide m imove 3218 and PND 3218 fit: Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail, so a single cell covers both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a MyGuide m imove 3218 unit. The BMS accepted the charge profile without error flags and held voltage above 3.5V through a full navigation session.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and let it run until it acquires a satellite fix before driving off. A full power interruption clears the almanac cache, so the first fix after a battery swap can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back to under a minute once that data rebuilds.
GPS accuracy reduced as battery voltage drops on the MyGuide 3218
The MyGuide 3218 receiver draws more current during active routing than during standby. As cell voltage sags toward the low cutoff threshold, some units reduce GPS receiver sensitivity to protect the remaining charge. This shows up as position drift or a weakened satellite signal bar count before the device actually powers off. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during navigation prevents the receiver from entering this reduced-sensitivity mode.
Device shuts off mid-route with no low-battery warning
The on-screen battery indicator on the MyGuide 3218 reads from a lookup table, not a real-time fuel gauge. When the original cell ages, its actual discharge curve no longer matches that table, so the indicator can show one or two bars right up until the BMS hard-cuts at 3.0V. A fresh cell restores the correct voltage curve and realigns the indicator to the actual state of charge. After fitting this replacement, run one full charge–discharge cycle so the device recalibrates its display threshold.
