This 7.4V, 1100mAh lithium-polymer pack replaces the original BBTG092001 battery in the Uniden Atlantis 270 handheld marine and land-based transceiver. It uses the same cell format and BMS profile as the factory pack, so the charger dock and bar indicator behave as expected from the first charge cycle.
- Atlantis 270 fit: The Atlantis 270 uses a compact Li-Polymer cell format with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to the BBTG092001 part profile. A pack with the wrong BMS voltage thresholds will either refuse to charge in the dock or show incorrect bar readings — this replacement matches those thresholds directly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance, PTT transmit-current draw, and BMS cutoff verification. The BMS held its overcurrent threshold correctly under simulated transmit spikes and returned to normal standby draw without tripping into lockout.
- First insertion on the Atlantis dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack and wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The Atlantis charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.
Why the Atlantis 270 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery
Transmitting draws significantly more current than standby — on the Atlantis 270, a sustained PTT press pulls enough current to trigger the BMS overcurrent cutoff if the cell voltage is still at storage level. A new Li-Polymer pack ships at roughly 3.7V per cell, not full charge. At that voltage, the BMS has a tighter overcurrent margin. A single full charge cycle before the first transmission run resolves this — the BMS cutoff threshold widens once the cells are above 4.0V per cell.

The Atlantis 270 reads battery state through simple voltage-threshold steps, not a fuel gauge chip. If the dock cycles to green but the radio shows one bar fewer than expected, the cell is likely sitting at 4.15V rather than the full 4.20V per cell — a normal variance in dock cutoff timing. Remove the pack, reinsert it into the dock, and run a second top-up charge. The indicator will align once the cell reaches the 4.20V threshold the radio's voltage comparator expects.
