Charging errors on a fresh install are almost always a contact resistance problem, not a battery fault. The EA520 cradle uses spring-pin contacts that collect dust and debris in warehouse environments. Oxidation or grit raises contact resistance enough that the charger circuit sees an incomplete connection and throws an error. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the error clears in most cases.

The EA520 draws simultaneously from the imager, processor, and Wi-Fi radio during a rapid scan sequence. If the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the wireless module drops below its minimum operating voltage and disconnects before the battery protection circuit acts. This typically surfaces mid-shift when the pack is partially depleted, not at full charge. Start each shift with a fully charged pack and check that the cell reads above 3.6V at rest if dropouts persist.
