The PA968II cradle reads charging status through the battery contacts on the base of the scanner. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from a worn-out pack, the dock may flag a contact resistance error instead of starting a charge cycle. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the scanner with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the cradle will resume the charge handshake and begin charging normally.

During rapid scanning, the PA968II draws simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio — both spike current at nearly the same moment. A cell with degraded capacity cannot sustain that combined draw without voltage sag, and the radio module drops its connection before the imager does. This pack's 1800mAh rating keeps the voltage above the radio's dropout threshold during back-to-back scan events. If disconnects persist, charge the pack to full — 8.4V at pack terminals — before the next shift.
