VeriFone Nurit 8020 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CCR-8020)
This 7.4V 1800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the VeriFone Nurit 8020 payment terminal. It fits the Nurit 8020, Nurit 8020US20, 802B-WW-M05, and M50 variants. All four share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol.
- Nurit 8020 series compatibility: The 8020, 8020US20, 802B-WW-M05, and M50 all run the same 7.4V power rail with an identical three-pin connector and BMS communication line. One battery pack covers all four.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on a Nurit 8020 unit. The BMS accepted the handshake on first boot, reported state-of-charge correctly, and held voltage above 6.8V through repeated transaction simulations including receipt printer activation.
- First-deployment tip: After fitting, complete one full transaction cycle before using the terminal in a live environment. The Nurit 8020 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.
Receipt printer causing voltage sag on the Nurit 8020
The thermal printer inside the Nurit 8020 draws a sharp current spike every time it activates — typically 800mA to 1.2A for the first half-second. A degraded or deeply discharged battery cannot sustain that draw without the voltage collapsing. When voltage drops below the BMS protection threshold, the terminal cuts power to protect the cell. A fresh battery at full charge holds the voltage rail stable through that printer spike without triggering a cutoff.
Terminal stuck on the PCI boot screen after battery replacement
The Nurit 8020 runs a PCI security handshake during every boot sequence. If the BMS on a new battery has not yet completed its first full charge acceptance cycle, it can report an ambiguous state-of-charge to the terminal's firmware, stalling the boot. This is not a fault with the battery or the terminal. Charge the battery fully to 8.4V using the original dock, then power the terminal on — one complete charge cycle resolves the stall in nearly all cases.
