Verizon Ellipsis QMV7A — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MLP3970125)
This is a 3.7V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Verizon Ellipsis QMV7A 7-inch Android tablet. It also fits the Ellipsis MV7A, QMV7A 8GB, and QMV7B. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet won't power on.
- Ellipsis QMV7A and QMV7B compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell Li-Polymer architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same charge IC handshake — so one cell covers the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the QMV7A platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake immediately, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold without nuisance cutoffs during display and WiFi load.
- Fuel gauge reset after installation: After fitting this cell, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that almost always appear after a battery swap.
Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement
The Ellipsis QMV7A draws a combined load from the display backlight and WiFi radio simultaneously. Under that load, a new Li-Polymer cell can show a steeper voltage drop than the fuel gauge IC expects, because the IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The tablet interprets that voltage drop as a critically low state and triggers a shutdown — even though actual capacity remains. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to synchronise the fuel gauge to the new cell's curve.
Fast charging unavailable after swapping the QMV7A battery
The Ellipsis QMV7A uses a USB-PD negotiation sequence that requires the charge IC to complete at least one accepted charge cycle before the device unlocks higher charge rates. Immediately after a swap, the tablet defaults to standard 5V charging while it validates the new cell. Plug in, let the first charge run from low to 100% without interruption, and fast charge should become available on the next session.
