ViewSonic V38R Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-002)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery for the ViewSonic V38R barcode scanner and its variants — V38R-01, V38r-02A, and V38r-06. It replaces OEM part numbers BAT-002 and VS10430. The cell fits the same housing and connects to the same BMS handshake as the original pack.
- V38R variant compatibility: The V38R-01, V38r-02A, and V38r-06 all share the same 3.7V rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol as the base V38R — one pack covers all four models without hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated scan-trigger cycles and wireless polling loads on the V38R. The BMS held stable across burst scanning sequences and did not trip under combined radio and imager draw.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack: Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before the first shift. The scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell sits near minimum — a fully charged pack on day one prevents false BMS trips during heavy burst scanning.

A charging error on a fresh pack is almost always a contact resistance problem, not a faulty cell. Dock contacts accumulate oxidation and debris in warehouse environments, and even slight resistance causes the cradle's charge controller to flag a fault. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth before reseating. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the cell and BMS are fine.
Scanner stops reading barcodes mid-shift after a battery swap
The imager and laser in the V38R require a minimum voltage threshold to fire reliably — if the new pack shipped at a low state of charge, the cell voltage can drop below that threshold under scan-trigger inrush before the shift even peaks. The scanner may appear powered on but the imager draws just enough to fail reads without triggering a full low-battery shutdown. Seat the pack in the cradle and charge to full before field use. Check that the battery indicator shows full before pulling it for a shift.
