VistaLab Ovation 10ul Pipettor — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9060-4001)
This 3.7V 700mAh Li-ion cell replaces OEM part 9060-4001 in the VistaLab Ovation 10ul electronic pipettor and compatible Multichannel Pipettes. It restores power to the motorised dispensing mechanism and onboard electronics. Capacity matches the original at 700mAh (2.59Wh) — do not substitute a higher-capacity cell, as the charge IC is calibrated to this spec.
- Ovation 10ul and Multichannel fit: Both models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 9060-4001 part number covers both — no adapter or wiring modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, standby, and motor-load discharge on the Ovation platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed its verification routine, and reported accurate state-of-charge throughout.
- Post-swap self-test procedure: After installing this cell, allow the Ovation to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence locks in a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge after swap
The Ovation's charge IC applies a conservative current ceiling when it encounters a new cell with an unrecognised charge history. On the first charge cycle, the indicator may plateau at 90–95% and hold there. This is the IC limiting charge rate to protect an uncharacterised cell — not a fault. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the IC recalibrates its end-of-charge threshold to the new cell's internal resistance profile, after which the indicator will read 100% correctly.
Ovation alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The low-battery alarm threshold in the Ovation's BMS is tuned to the voltage curve of a conditioned OEM cell. A fresh replacement cell has a slightly different resting voltage profile for the first several cycles, which the BMS can misread as low state-of-charge even when the cell is fully charged. This is not a defective battery — it resolves after the cell completes one full charge-discharge cycle and the BMS learns the new voltage curve. Do not use the pipettor for clinical sample work until this conditioning cycle is complete and the alarm no longer triggers at full charge.
