The Prestige 7G's fuel gauge IC stores a charge curve calibrated to the old, degraded cell. When you install a new cell, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage profile. The tablet's processor sees a voltage it interprets as near-empty before the cell is actually depleted — and forces a shutdown. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the calibration. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% stop.
Battery percentage jumping or freezing on screen after swap
A percentage that jumps forward, freezes, or reads 0% while the tablet still runs points to fuel gauge drift — not a faulty cell. The gauge IC compares live cell voltage against a reference curve built on the old battery's internal resistance. A new cell has lower internal resistance, so the voltage readings land outside the expected range and the displayed percentage loses accuracy. Run one complete discharge cycle to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption, and the gauge IC will re-anchor its curve to the new cell's actual output.
