- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through dock-charge cycles on a VR200 unit and monitored BMS response at start-up, under load, and at end-of-discharge. The protection circuit handled motor start current without tripping, and the pack accepted a full charge without the dock throwing a fault LED.
- Dock charging discipline for the VR200: Do not leave the VR200 sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. Robotic vacuums parked on-dock permanently receive a low-level trickle that accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove from the dock if the unit will not run again for several days.
Why the VR200 loses suction before the battery indicator reads low
A partially blocked filter forces the VR200's motor to draw more current than rated to maintain airflow. That elevated draw causes voltage to sag at the cell level, so suction drops noticeably while the indicator still shows a mid-charge state. The BMS is reading cell voltage, not airflow — it won't flag a low-battery warning until the sag crosses its cutoff threshold. Clean or replace the filter first before concluding the battery is at fault.
VR200 motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause
This is an overcurrent trip by the BMS, not a charge problem. When suction is restricted — blocked brush roll, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the motor intake — current draw spikes and the BMS shuts the pack down to protect the cells. The unit recovers once the BMS resets, typically within 30–60 seconds, which is why it appears intermittent. Clear the restriction and confirm the brush roll spins freely; if the trip stops occurring, the battery was not the cause.
