Why the Meduvent Standard rejects a new battery during self-test
The Meduvent Standard runs a BMS verification at every startup that checks cell voltage, internal resistance, and chemistry signature against stored OEM thresholds. A fresh replacement cell that has partially self-discharged during storage may sit just below the acceptance threshold, triggering a battery fault even though the cell itself is not defective. The fix is a single full charge cycle before first clinical use — this brings cell voltage and resistance into the range the BMS expects. After one complete charge, the self-test passes on the next power-on without further intervention.
Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge
On a new lithium-ion cell, the Meduvent Standard charge IC applies a conservative current limit during the first charge cycle. This causes the on-screen charge indicator to plateau — often between 85% and 95% — before slowly climbing to full. The behaviour is a protection feature in the charge IC, not a fault with the battery or the device. Leave the unit on charge without interruption and the indicator will reach 100%; subsequent charge cycles complete at normal speed once the cell has been through one full charge-discharge sequence.
