Worx WG168E / WG268E Series — 40V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WA3536)
This is a 40V, 2000mAh (80Wh) Li-ion battery built to replace the WA3536 pack. It fits the Worx WG168E, WG268E, WG368E, WG568E, and 12 additional models in the same 40V hedge trimmer platform. Slot it into the same bay as the original and the charger handshake runs normally.
- WG168E / WG268E / WG368E / WG568E platform: These models share the same 40V rail, connector footprint, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack covers the full range. Swapping between compatible models carries no compatibility risk at the cell or firmware level.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a WG168E, monitoring BMS cutoff response under blade load and checking cell voltage balance at pack termination. The BMS held within spec throughout and the charger exited bulk charge cleanly.
- First-use break-in on the hedge trimmer: On the first two uses, run the trimmer through light vegetation only — thin stems, not thick woody branches. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature before it sets its overcurrent trip threshold for heavier cutting sessions.
BMS cutoff on trigger pull during thick-branch cuts
The WG168E dual-action blade draws a sharp inrush spike the moment the trigger fires, especially when the blades contact dense wood immediately on engagement. If the BMS hasn't profiled that inrush pattern yet, it can interpret the spike as a fault and cut power instantly. This isn't a faulty pack — it's the overcurrent protection acting on an unprofiled load. Start two or three cycles on lighter material and the BMS recalibrates its threshold; the cutout stops.
Charger LED stays red and never enters charge cycle on a new pack
A 40V Li-ion pack stored for any significant time can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor — typically around 30V on this platform. The charger reads that as a suspect pack and refuses to enter bulk charge, leaving the LED solid red. Connect the pack to the charger and wait up to 10 minutes; the charger should attempt a low-current recovery pulse to bring the cells up past the acceptance threshold. If the LED shifts from red to flashing within that window, the recovery is working. If it stays solid red past 15 minutes, check the pack contacts for oxidation and reseat the battery firmly.
