Xiaomi 13 Lite — 3.89V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP4E)
The BP4E is a 3.89V Li-Polymer cell rated at 4400mAh (17.12Wh), built to fit the Xiaomi 13 Lite. It replaces the original cell when the phone can no longer hold a charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or fails to power on. Swap it out and the 13 Lite returns to normal operation without replacing the whole handset.
- Xiaomi 13 Lite fitment: The 13 Lite uses a specific connector pitch and BMS handshake tied to the BP4E part number. The fuel gauge IC on the motherboard reads the cell ID on first boot — using the correct part number prevents an immediate calibration fault or charge refusal.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the 13 Lite motherboard, confirming the BMS accepted the charge profile, the USB-PD fast charge protocol engaged correctly after the first complete cycle, and the coulomb counter tracked state-of-charge without error codes.
- First-cycle fast charge protocol: On the first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current fast charging pushes significant current into an uncalibrated cell.
Why the 13 Lite reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Xiaomi 13 Lite uses a coulomb counter that builds its charge curve from the history of the original cell. When you install a new BP4E, that learned curve no longer matches the new cell's actual discharge behaviour. The fuel gauge IC continues using the old data until it completes at least one full cycle on the new cell. Until recalibration finishes, the percentage shown on screen can read 10–15% higher or lower than the true state of charge.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a short burst of high current and the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage still looks safe. On a freshly installed cell that hasn't been calibrated, the fuel gauge IC doesn't know the cell's true low-voltage cliff, so it lets the phone run past the safe operating point. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge rate. After recalibration, the BMS cutoff triggers correctly and the phone holds at or above 3.5V before shutting down.
