Why the AutoPropad Basic won't boot after a battery swap
A freshly installed Li-Polymer cell can sit below the scanner's boot voltage threshold if it shipped at storage charge — typically around 3.6V to 3.7V. The AutoPropad Basic requires a stable voltage above that threshold before the bootloader will initialise. Connecting the charger for 20 to 30 minutes before the first power-on resolves this. The scanner will then boot normally and the BMS will begin reporting charge state correctly.
Wireless connection dropping mid-diagnostic session
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on XTOOL scan tools draw short current bursts during active vehicle communication. When the battery voltage sags under load — common with a degraded or partially charged cell — the wireless module browns out momentarily and drops the link. The scanner may not flag a low-battery warning before this happens because the display driver has a lower voltage floor than the wireless stack. Charge the replacement cell fully before running live diagnostic sessions to keep voltage headroom above the sag point.
