This 7.2V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell is the backup battery for Yale HSA6300 and HSA6400 series hardwired alarm control panels. It keeps the panel powered during mains outages, preserving settings and maintaining active monitoring. Voltage and capacity match the original GP60AAAH6BMJ specification exactly.
- HSA3800, HSA6300, and HSA6400 compatibility: These panels share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector pitch, and charge management circuit. The same cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on an HSA6400 panel. The onboard charge circuit accepted the battery without fault codes, and BMS handshake completed normally at float voltage.
- Post-install float charge window: Do not run a zone or system diagnostic immediately after fitting this cell. The panel needs 24 to 48 hours on mains power to bring the battery to full float charge. Running a test before that window closes will trigger a false low-battery report from the panel firmware.
Alarm panel reporting low battery hours after fitting a new cell
The HSA6300 and HSA6400 panels check battery state against a voltage threshold stored in firmware. A fresh Ni-MH cell sitting at shipping voltage — typically 6.8V to 7.0V — sits below that threshold. The panel reads it as depleted, not as new. Float charging on mains power raises cell voltage to the 7.2V nominal over 24 to 48 hours, at which point the low-battery indicator clears automatically. No reset is needed once the cell reaches full float voltage.
Panel loses programmed zones during a mains outage after battery swap
If the replacement cell has not completed its initial charge cycle, its available capacity is too low to sustain panel memory and the zone controller simultaneously during a power cut. The panel draws current from the battery the moment mains fails, and an undercharged cell collapses voltage quickly enough to corrupt non-volatile memory on some firmware revisions. Allow 48 hours of uninterrupted mains power after fitting the new cell before cutting power as a test. After that conditioning period, the battery holds sufficient charge to bridge a typical outage without memory loss.
