ET51 shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement
The ET51 runs a combined load of display, WiFi, and background Windows processes that creates a sharp voltage draw spike. A new cell that hasn't completed one full calibration cycle has a fuel gauge IC still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. When voltage drops steeply under that combined load, the BMS sees the voltage floor before the percentage counter catches up and triggers an emergency cutoff. Run a full discharge-to-shutoff cycle, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that single cycle the fuel gauge tracks the new cell's curve and the early cutoff stops.
Fast charge not available after swapping the ET51 battery
The ET51's charge IC uses a negotiation handshake during the first accepted charge cycle to confirm cell chemistry and set the fast-charge current threshold. On a fresh cell, the IC defaults to standard charge rate until that handshake completes. Plug into the Zebra-approved cradle or USB-PD charger and allow one full charge cycle to complete without interruption. Fast charge availability is confirmed once the charge IC logs an accepted cycle — check the Windows battery report after that cycle to verify the charge rate has updated.
