Zebra QLN220 / QLN320 / ZQ510 / ZQ520 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P1031365-025)
This 7.4V, 6800mAh (50.32Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in Zebra QLN220, QLN320, ZQ510, and ZQ520 mobile thermal printers. It slots into the same battery bay and communicates with the same BMS as the original Zebra cell. Fit also covers units running part numbers P1023901, P1051378, BTRY-MPP-34MA1-01, and several other cross-references listed above.
- QLN and ZQ series compatibility: These four printer models share the same 7.4V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell chemistry and capacity covers the entire group — no firmware or hardware modifications needed at the battery bay.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a QLN320 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags. Charge acceptance hit full capacity within the first two cycles, and the discharge curve stayed flat through heavy print jobs.
- Post-install calibration for mobile printer motors: After fitting this battery, charge it fully and print at least five test receipts before deploying the unit. The paper feed motor draws current in short bursts — running calibration prints lets the BMS log the correct current profile for the new cell and prevents false low-battery cutoffs in the field.
Why the QLN220 paper feed jams or stalls at low charge
The QLN220 paper feed motor relies on consistent voltage to maintain torque across the feed rollers. As cell voltage drops toward the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 6.0V on a 7.4V nominal pack — the motor cannot generate enough force to advance the paper roll against resistance. This causes the printer to stall, skip labels, or throw a paper-out error even with media loaded. A fully charged replacement cell restores the voltage headroom the motor needs to run the full feed cycle without stalling.
Faded or uneven print on a freshly installed battery
The thermal print head requires a stable voltage supply to heat evenly across its element array. If a new battery ships partially discharged, the head may not reach its target temperature uniformly, producing streaky or faded output on the first few prints. This is not a head fault — it is a voltage issue. Charge the battery to 8.4V (full for a 7.4V Li-ion cell) before the first print run and the output quality will normalise.
