Zebra TC53 Replacement Battery - Replaces BT-000442A

$52.22Sold out

Why this battery

  • Fits Zebra TC53, TC58, TC73, TC78 mobile computers and replaces OEM part numbers BT-000442A and BTRY-NGTC5TC7-66MA-01.
  • 3.85V and 6600mAh chemistry sustains continuous barcode scanning and wireless data sync across full warehouse shifts without mid-day swaps.
  • Slides into the battery slot with flat connector orientation and locks with the spring tab — check alignment before pressing down.
  • We bench-tested the BMS through full discharge cycles on TC53 hardware; the cell held voltage stable under rapid scan and radio inrush loads.
  • After installing, place the scanner in its dock for a full charge cycle before pick-and-pack work — the trigger inrush current is highest near minimum charge and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS cutoff on first shift.

About this replacement

Zebra TC53 / TC58 / TC73 / TC78 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-000442A)

This is a 3.85V, 6600mAh Li-ion battery for the Zebra TC53, TC58, TC73, and TC78 rugged mobile computers. These handheld devices are workhorses in warehouse, retail, and logistics environments where scan volume is high and shift lengths are long. This pack replaces OEM part numbers BT-000442A and BTRY-NGTC5TC7-66MA-01.

  • TC53 / TC58 / TC73 / TC78 platform fit: These four models share the same battery bay geometry, contact pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The dock and the device both authenticate the pack over the same data line, so any of these devices will recognise this battery without prompting a compatibility warning.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on TC-series hardware, monitoring BMS communication across the contact array. The protection circuit responded correctly to overvoltage, overcurrent, and low-voltage cutoff thresholds throughout testing.
  • First-shift pre-charge routine: After installing this pack, seat it in the cradle and complete a full charge cycle before your first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws a short inrush current each activation. When the cell starts near minimum, that repeated inrush can trip the BMS prematurely on the first shift — a full charge prevents that.

Cradle showing a charging error on a brand-new pack

TC-series cradles read battery state through a five-pin contact array on the back of the pack. Even minor contamination or oxidation on those contacts raises resistance enough for the dock to flag a charging fault. This is common on new packs that have been handled before installation. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle slot with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and the charging indicator should clear within 30 seconds.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan burst, the TC53 and TC78 draw simultaneously from the imager and the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radio. That combined inrush creates a brief voltage sag on the cell. If the pack is already partially depleted, the sag crosses the BMS low-voltage threshold and the radio stack resets to recover power — which users see as a dropped connection mid-scan. Keeping the pack above 30% charge during high-throughput shifts prevents the sag from reaching that cutoff point.
