This is a 3.7V, 4000mAh lithium-polymer battery for the ZTE T98, V9s, and P98T tablets. It replaces OEM part number LI3740T42P5HC66050. Fit this battery when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- T98, V9s, and P98T compatibility: These three ZTE tablet models share the same 3.7V power rail, physical cell dimensions (126.09 × 59.24 × 4.94mm), and connector pinout. The BMS handshake and charge IC thresholds are identical across the range, so one cell covers all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on ZTE tablet hardware. The BMS engaged correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and full-charge termination. No false low-battery triggers were observed during combined display and WiFi load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a battery swap.
ZTE T98 shutting down at 15–25% remaining
When the display and WiFi radio draw current simultaneously, voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge can track. The charge IC sees the voltage cliff and triggers a protection cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. This looks like a dead battery but is actually the BMS responding to a real voltage drop under combined load. After completing one full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted charge cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.
Fast charging unavailable after battery replacement
The ZTE tablet's charge IC uses a negotiation cycle to confirm the connected cell before enabling higher charge rates. On a fresh cell, this negotiation has not yet completed, so the device defaults to standard charge current. Plug in using the original ZTE charger and cable, allow one full charge to 100% without interruption, and fast charging will be available from the next session onwards.
